CVWMA coordinates bulky waste pickup for the Town of Ashland, City of Colonial Heights and City of Hopewell. Please check the information specific to your locality below.
Ashland
BRUSH and YARD WASTE
- Prunings, grass clippings, weeds, leaves, brush, and general yard and garden wastes must be bagged and securely tied together or bundled.
- Bagged leaves will be collected year round. The limit per collection is up to 30 bags, each weighing no more than 50 pounds.
- Bundles brush will be collected. Brush must be tied in bundles less than four feet in length and weighing less than 75 pounds.
BULKY TRASH
- Limited amounts of bulky trash (like furniture, water heaters and appliances) will be collected at the curb on your regular collection day. The amount should not exceed the capacity of a 1/2 ton pickup truck.
- Residents must make their own arrangements with a licensed professional to have the Freon (CFC/HCFC) removed prior to placing appliance at the curb for pick-up.
Colonial Heights

BULKY TRASH
- Collection of large amounts of bulky material (or more than would fit into a pickup truck) must be arranged in advance. Fees may apply.
- Limited amounts of bulky trash (like furniture, water heaters and appliances) will be collected at the curb on your regular collection day. The amount should not exceed the capacity of a 1/2 ton pickup truck.
- Appliances that contain Freon (refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners) such as refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners require special handling. You must pay a $10 fee for the safe removal of the Freon prior to pick up. Submit your fee to the City of Colonial Heights Treasurer’s Office. Put the receipt in a zip top bag and place it inside the appliance on the day of collection.

Hopewell

- Bundles brush will be collected. Brush must be tied in bundles less than four feet in length and weighing less than 75 pounds.
BULKY TRASH
- Collection of large amounts of bulky material (or more than would fit into a pickup truck) must be arranged in advance. Bulk collections in excess of a pickup load may be subject to a citation from the City of Hopewell.
- Limited amounts of bulky trash (like furniture, water heaters and appliances) will be collected at the curb on your regular collection day. The amount should not exceed the capacity of a 1/2 ton pickup truck.
- Appliances containing Freon (CFC/HCFC gases) such as refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners will be picked up provided the resident pays the gas removal fee to the City Treasurer and attaches the receipt to the appliance.
