Thanksgiving Delays for Recycling and Trash Collection
There will be no recycling or trash collection on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 25. Blue Week collections will be delayed by one day due to the holiday. Please place containers out for collection by 7 a.m. See details.
The City of Colonial Heights participates in most of CVWMA’s recycling and solid waste management programs. The City has made major strides in reducing the amount of trash going to area landfills and increasing it curbside recycling efforts.

Leaf Removal Services.
- Bagged leaves will be collected year round. The limit per collection is not to exceed the capacity of a 1/2 ton pickup truck. The 30 bags, each weighing no more than 50 pounds is included as part of the 1/2 ton pickup truck.
In addition, the City has a leaf collection schedule.
Is service available at my address? You can do an address search here. The City provides residents with curbside recycling service every other week on BLUE FRIDAYs through CVWMA. TFC Recycling is the contactor.
ACCEPTED ITEMS: Include these items in your recycling container. Aluminum and steel cans (empty, rinse), food and beverage cartons ( empty, rinse, replace plastic cap), glass bottles and jars (empty, rinse, no metal lids, caps, please), paper and cardboard, kitchen, laundry, and bath plastic bottles, jugs, and tubs (Empty, rinse and reattach plastic cap to recycle).
Avoid the Oops! NOT ACCEPTED: Leave these out of your recycling container: Plastic bags, plastic bagged recyclables, any Styrofoam (carryout or packing materials), food contaminated such as pizza boxes, no sheets or balls of aluminum foil, no shredded paper, no tanglers, hoses, cords, big items such as wood, plastic, furniture or metal.
Recycle plastic bags at local grocery/retail stores. Click here to find a store near you to recycle them at. Many stores work with Trex in Winchester, VA.

Accepted items can be recycled through our residential recycling and our Recycling Center (drop-off recycling program).
The City provides each resident with a 95-gallon green recycling cart. To obtain a second cart, please visit www.cvwma.com or call our Customer Service (804)340-0900. (Additional recycling carts are $65 each). Recycling Perks is a program offered by the City’s recycling service provider (TFC Recycling) that allows residents to earn points for recycling. The points can be redeemed in discounts and coupons at local retailers and restaurants. To register for this program, visit www.recyclingperks.com
Drop Off Recycling Collection Sites
Residents not eligible for curbside recycling are provided Drop-off Recycling containers at the Recycling Center, 2701 Conduit Rd., (804) 479-7056. Residents can recycle the same items accepted at the curb.
