In partnership with Meridian Waste Services and CVWMA , the City of Petersburg offers residential (curbside) recycling and residential trash collection services to city residents and businesses.

Curbside Recycling
Curbside Recycling is every other week on Tuesdays. (Please note that the Old Towne area has weekly curbside recycling collection on Tuesdays.) Check your recycling collection schedule to see which color week your is your recycling collection week. The city provides each eligible household with one 96-gallon green recycling cart.

ACCEPTED ITEMS: Cardboard, mixed paper, aluminum and steel cans, kitchen, laundry, and bath plastic bottles, tubs and containers (Empty, rinse and replace plastic cap to recycle), food and beverage cartons (empty, rinse, replace plastic cap to recycle) and glass bottles and jars (no metal lids, please).
Avoid the Oops! NOT ACCEPTED: Leave these out of your recycling container: Plastic bags, plastic bagged recyclables, any Styrofoam (carryout or packing materials), food contaminated such as pizza boxes, no sheets or balls of aluminum foil, no shredded paper, no tanglers, hoses, cords, big items such as wood, plastic, furniture or metal.
Recycle plastic bags at local grocery/retail stores.

The City provides and maintains one drop-off recycling collection site located at South Crater Square Shopping Center. This site accepts the same items that can be recycled through curbside recycling.
