A Message About CVWMA Services
As of July 1, 2024, CVWMA is no longer involved in the City of Petersburg’s trash service. Contact Meridian Waste directly for trash service needs.
CVWMA will continue to coordinate curbside recycling. Collection days in Petersburg will change starting July 8, 2024. Enter your address in our customer portal to view your new recycling day.
NEWS RELEASE: Petersburg Curbside Recycling Days to Change Effective July 8
Homes and many businesses are provided with a 95-gallon green recycling cart.*
Recycling collection in Petersburg is every other week on red weeks. Some Old Towne addresses are collected every week.

Make sure your recycling is out by 7 a.m. on collection day.
Not accepted:
× Plastic bags
× Plastic bagged recyclables
× Styrofoam
× Food-contaminated such as pizza boxes
× Sheets or balls of aluminum foil
× Shredded paper
× Hoses or cords
Use the CVWMA Customer Portal to:
• Sign up for recycling day email reminders.
• Obtain a new recycling cart.
• Request a recycling collection calendar.
*CVWMA serves multi-family developments with four or fewer units.
Effective June 14, 2022, the recycling drop-off at South Crater Square Shopping Center is closed.
CVWMA partners with Petersburg on electronics recycling. Electronics must be recycled through reputable recycling vendors or special community events only.
CVWMA contractor Securis holds an electronics recycling event on the first Saturday of each month at 8419 Glazebrook Ave., Henrico. The event is open to all residents of Central Virginia. Fees apply. For more information, see the calendar of events.
Never place electronics or batteries in curbside or drop-off recycling containers.
Adopt-A-Spot and Adopt-A-Street. Both programs engage residents in regular cleanup activities. Learn more at the city’s website.
