Strategic Plan 2022-2042

The CVWMA Board of Directors approved a strategic plan on June 17, 2022, to guide the authority through the next 20 years.

Vision

To be the recognized leader in regionally sustainable waste management practices that protect the environment.

Mission

Fostering regional collaboration to provide planning, resources and education in order to reduce, reuse, recycle and manage solid waste for our 13 jurisdictions.


Goal 1: Increase the recycling rate to 80%, while exploring and implementing alternative options to landfilling non-recyclable waste.

Objectives

  • 1.1 Engage in waste reduction and reuse strategies.
  • 1.2 Increase recycling of existing and new commodities.
  • 1.3 Explore innovative technologies as alternatives to landfilling for non-recyclable waste that contribute to a circular economy.

Goal 2: Ensure positive customer service by providing 24/7 access to customer service.

Objectives

  • 2.1 Improve overall customer experience.
  • 2.2 Increase resolution time.
  • 2.3 Implement multi-faceted communication system, balancing human interaction with more immediate digital resolutions.

Goal 3: Provide and expand educational services based on the Sustainable Materials Management Hierarchy to meet the needs of schools, local governments and citizens in all localities.

  • 3.1 Build a comprehensive education and outreach strategy around SMMH.
  • 3.2 Improve the CVWMA.com user experience.
  • 3.3 Increase CVWMA’s brand awareness.

Goal 4: Increase access to recycling services to multi-family units.

Objectives

  • 4.1 Ensure recycling infrastructure is planned for, and recycling is provided, in all new development.
  • 4.2 Increase convenience access to recycling in existing multi-family complexes.

Goal 5: Spur regional economic development opportunities to support the Sustainable Materials Management Hierarchy through education and research.

Objectives

  • 5.1 Education state/local economic development officials on sustainable materials management hierarchy.
  • 5.2 Learn from economic development authorities their expectations and processes, and research economic development opportunities.
  • 5.3 Help identify needs and strategies to attract business that supports the SMMH.
