CVWMA partners with the City of Richmond on programs for recycling and waste management, including curbside and drop-off recycling, electronics recycling and household hazard waste collections.
Each home is provided a 95-gallon recycling cart (green with blue lid).
Recycling collection is Monday through Thursday on Blue and Red weeks. Use the CVWMA web tool to look up your exact day.
Make sure your recycling is out by 7 a.m. on your collection day.

CVWMA partners with Richmond on electronics recycling. Electronics must be recycled through reputable recycling vendors or special community events only.
CVWMA contractor Securis holds an electronics recycling event on the first Saturday of each month at 8419 Glazebrook Ave., Henrico. The event is open to all residents of Central Virginia. Fees apply. For more information, see the calendar of events.
Never place electronics or batteries in curbside or drop-off recycling containers.

Trash Collection. The Richmond Department of Public Works collects and disposes of solid waste in the city.
Bulk and Brush. This collection takes place every other week on a year-round basis. Click the link for information on the city’s website.
Household Batteries, Paint, Hazardous Waste and Tires. The city offers this helpful flyer with instructions for specific items.
Clean City Commission. The Richmond Clean City Commission is composed of City Council appointees and concerned volunteers who help clean and beautify Richmond. Activities include neighborhood volunteer cleanups, graffiti abatement, support for green events and Adopt-A-Spot/Street/Gateway. For information, visit the webpage or call 804-646-8325.
Yard and Vegetative Waste. Large items such as brush may be placed for collection next to your trash can for pickup within two to four weeks. Grass clippings and leaves can be composted or taken to the East Richmond Road Convenience Center, 3800 E. Richmond Road, for recycling.
