Curbside Recycling

Curbside Recycling is every other week on Tuesdays. (Please note that the Old Towne area has weekly curbside recycling collection on Tuesdays.) Check your recycling collection schedule to see which color week your is your recycling collection week. The city provides each eligible household with one 96-gallon green recycling cart. Additional recycling carts can be purchased for $58 each an additional monthly fee of $2.25 per cart. Call the City of Petersburg, Department of Public Works at 804-733-2353 to purchase additional carts.

Recycle More with CVWMA!  CVWMA accepts aluminum and steel cans, glass bottles and jars, mixed paper and cardboard as well as plastic bottles, tubs and containers with a #1-#7 on bottom, lids and caps, and cartons such as milk, juice and egg substitutes are recyclable in our residential recycling (curbside) and drop-off recycling programs in our participating member localities.

NOT ACCEPTED: Plastic bags, Styrofoam, or food contaminated pizza boxes will NOT BE accepted for recycling. Recycle plastic bags at local retail stores.

Drop Off Recycling Collection Sites

The City provides and maintains three drop-off recycling collection sites located throughout the city. Each site accepts cardboard, mixed paper, steel and aluminum cans, #1 -#7 plastic bottles and containers, caps and lids (no food residue), waxy milk and juice cartons, glass bottles and jars.

NOT ACCEPTED: Plastic bags, Styrofoam, or food contaminated pizza boxes will NOT BE accepted for recycling. Recycle plastic bags at local retail stores.

  • Cameron Field, Sycamore and Mt. Vernon Streets.
  • Petersburg High School, Homestead Dr.
  • South Crater Square Shopping Center (Martin’s parking lot).

The drop-off container located at Blandford Academy is provided by Container First Services (CFS). This is not through CVWMA program. This collection site accepts cardboard, mixed paper, steel and aluminum cans, #1 and #2 plastic bottles (narrow neck); glass bottles and jars.

 

Solid Waste Collection Sites

Check with Tri-City Regional Landfill, 390 Industrial (located off Puddleduck Rd.) for what can be recycled and the fees for disposal.
