Go Green! Recycle Real Christmas Trees
December 27, 2024 |
RICHMOND, VA — One of the ultimate ways to “go green” at the holidays is to recycle a real Christmas tree.
Many CVWMA member localities are offering this service for their residents.
A list is available at www.cvwma.com/christmas-tree-recycling.
Programs are open only to residents of the sponsoring locality.
All trees must be free of ornaments, lights, tinsel and hardware. See special instructions for each facility.
Recycled trees are ground into a mulch-type product that can be applied to the landscape.
Real Christmas trees can also be composted or placed outside as wildlife habitat.
Richmond’s big recycling event is coming up
City of Richmond residents can recycle their Christmas trees and much more at the city’s Bring One for the Chipper event on Jan. 11, 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., at 1710 Robin Hood Road. Real Christmas trees, personal documents, mattresses and box springs, and electronics can be dropped off for recycling. City of Richmond ID required.
Fees apply for some electronics recycling.
