Powhatan County
CVWMA partners with Powhatan County on several waste management programs. Many services are available to residents through the county-operated convenience center at 2407 Mitchell Road.
Powhatan residents may recycle cans, bottles, paper, cardboard and cartons in the recycling drop-off containers located at the county convenience center, 2407 Mitchell Road.

Tuesday-Sunday, 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
Closed holidays
A Powhatan County convenience center decal must be displayed in order to use the drop-off.
Accepted:
Aluminum and steel cans
Glass bottles and jars (without tops or lids)
Paper and cardboard (please flatten boxes)
Cartons (rinse and replace caps)
Plastic bottles, jugs and tubs (rinse clean and replace caps and lids)
Not accepted:
× Plastic bags
× Plastic bagged recyclables
× Styrofoam
× Food-contaminated items
× Sheets or balls of aluminum foil
× Shredded paper
× Hoses or cords
Large household appliances may be recycled at the Powhatan Convenience Center.
A $25 fee applies for each appliance containing Freon (air conditioners, refrigerators, freezers). This fee offsets the cost to properly recycle the Freon.
A $15 fee applies for each large appliance not containing Freon (stoves, washing machines, water heaters, etc.)
Small appliances such as microwaves, toasters, blenders, etc., may be recycled at special electronics recycling events.

Electronics must be recycled through reputable recycling vendors or special community events only.
CVWMA contractor Securis holds an electronics recycling event on the first Saturday of each month at 8419 Glazebrook Ave., Henrico. The event is open to all residents of Central Virginia. Fees apply.

The Powhatan Anti-Litter Council works to raise awareness of litter and its impact on the county. The council engages residents through special recycling events, education, recognition programs and volunteer cleanups.
