RICHMOND — The Central Virginia Waste Management Authority will host a Recycling Fair and Circularity Celebration Saturday, Oct. 18, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at 2100 W. Laburnum Ave., Richmond.
The fair will feature free drive-through recycling opportunities, such as electronics recycling, document shredding and used clothing drop-off.
Participants are also invited to enjoy music, games and food trucks. Partner organizations will be onsite to share information about waste reduction, recycling and sustainability.
The fair will be a zero-waste event. Food trucks will use compostable packaging that will be collected onsite.
CVWMA is a public-service authority established in 1990 to help the region meet state requirements for recycling. Curbside recycling is the authority’s most visible program, serving 200,000 households.
CVWMA partners with its 13 member localities to provide other programs that contribute to a circular economy for the region’s waste.
Since 1990, the authority’s recycling programs have returned more than $20 million back to the localities from the sale of recycled commodities.
The member localities are: Town of Ashland, Charles City County, Chesterfield County, City of Colonial Heights, Goochland County, Hanover County, Henrico County, City of Hopewell, New Kent County, City of Petersburg, Powhatan County, Prince George County and City of Richmond.
The Recycling Fair and Circularity Celebration is sponsored by TFC Recycling, WM, GFL, Republic Services, Cascade Cart Solutions, Sims Metal, DRC Emergency Services, Ceres Environmental, TowneBank and MDB Strategies.
