Hanover County will host a special e-waste recycling event April 20, 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., at the Mechanicsville Convenience Center, 7427 Verdi Lane. Hanover residents may drop off old electronics to be securely handled and recycled free of charge.

This event is for Hanover residents only. ID required. No businesses or out-of-town materials.

Examples of accepted items:

• Flat screen monitors
• Flat screen televisions
• CRT (old convex-style) monitors
• CRT televisions
• Computers, tablets, and cells phones
• Cell phones and tablets with internal batteries
• Printers and battery backups
• Rechargeable batteries (these batteries can pose a fire hazard – never place these in your household trash or recycling)

All other small electrical items (anything small with a plug), including microwaves, will be accepted.

Not accepted: Alkaline batteries, smoke detectors or appliances containing Freon.
