Recycling Collection Delays

September 13, 2021 | Published by Nancy Drumheller

Dear Residential Recycling Customer,

We sincerely apologize for the recent delays with recycling collection. Just like many industries are experiencing, waste and recycling companies are struggling to hire and retain drivers and helpers on the trucks and are continuing to deal with Covid outbreaks and exposures. In addition, the lead time to get parts and even new trucks is getting longer. All of this has led to delays and in some cases cancelation of service.

Compounding the delays, we know many of you are frustrated trying to reach us by phone and by email to get information we have not provided timely response or provided information specific to your area. CVWMA has challenges of its own in hiring and while we can handle calls and communications for over 275,000 homes (almost 30,000 per day) when collections are routine, our system isn’t designed for the significant number of calls and emails we are receiving currently.

We are working on adjusting our systems to better serve our customers in the future and appreciate your understanding and patience.

We are continuing to post the information on our website as soon as there are changes, so please keep checking and follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

We are hoping collections will get back to normal in the next few weeks. In the meantime, if you can’t hold onto your recycling, there are several locations where you can drop off your recyclables.

We appreciate your patience and continuing to recycle,

Kim Hynes
Executive Director
