SUMMARY:Hanover County to Host Electronics Recycling & Special Collection Event
DESCRIPTION:As part of Earth Day 2017\, Hanover County Public Works will be hosting an electronics recycling event on Saturday\, April 29\, 2017\, at the Mechanicsville Solid Waste Convenience Center (located on Verdi Lane) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. In addition\, residents can bring household hazardous waste (HHW) for recycling too. Finally\, document shredding and Sheriff’s Office Prescription Drug Take Back Day will be available to residents also. \n**This special collection event is open to Hanover residents only. Check with Hanover County Public Works staff directly (804)365-6181 for other fee information\, if applicable. \nHanover Residents Can Recycle HHW at Earth Day Special Recycling Event on April 29 video  (April 2017) \nHanover Residents Can Recycle Latex Paint on April 29 video  (April 2017) \nHanover County Public Works encourages you to recycle “Anything with a plug!” Bring unwanted electronics such as: \nComputer systems (hard drive\, CPU\, monitors\, fee for CRTs)  Hard Drive shredding available for fee.\nComputer accessories (cables\, wires\, keyboards\, mice\, speakers\, etc.)\nPrinters\, scanners & copiers\nFax machines\nVCRs & camcorders\nStereos\nNo charge to recycle flat screen monitors and TVs. \nThere is a fee for the disposal CRTs- TVs and Monitors. Check with Hanover County Public Works staff for fee information. CRTs require special handling due to the leaded glass and mercury they contain. \n\n$10 fee for CRT Items < 27” diagonal width\n$20 fee for CRT Items = or > 27” diagonal width\n\nPayable by cash or check. \n  \nIn addition\, residents can bring household hazardous waste (HHW) to this Earth Day event for recycling.  Accepted items include: \noil-based paints\npaint thinners and solvents\npesticides\nherbicides and pool chemicals\nhousehold cleaners\nchemistry sets\nphotographic chemicals\nlatex paint (fee). Bring latex paint in the original can. Do not mix paints.  The cost is $5 per can\, no matter what size.  Payable by cash or check.  Paint collected at this event by Yuck Old Paint.  Check with Hanover County Public Works staff directly (804)365-6181 or visit the  Hanover County  website for more information on this event
