CVWMA’s Earth Day Education Focus: What one change can you make to help our planet?
Americans generate about 4.5 pounds of garbage a day! Most of it get thrown into landfills.  Reduce what you have, reuse as much as possible, repurpose what you can, and recycle right. What is one change you can make to help the planet? These are all ways to to help the Earth.

  • Reduce your environmental impact.
  • Rethink waste.
  • Reduce the amount of waste you generate. Reduce what you buy.
  • Reuse as much as possible.
  • Recycle items that can be recycled.
  • Rethink what goes where.
  • Finally, close the loop by buying products with recycled content.

Event in Goochland County
Goochland County is hosting countywide litter cleanup day on Sat, April 10 from 9 am-12 pm. Volunteers are asked to pre-register by calling (804) 556-5340 or by emailing
Event in Hanover County
 Hanover County will host an e-waste collection event at the Mechanicsville Solid Waste Convenience Center at 7427 Verdi Lane on Saturday, April 17, 2021.  This event will be held from 8 a.m. to noon.
As part of Earth Day 2021, Hanover County Public Works will be hosting an special household hazardous waste (HHW) collection event on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at the Mechanicsville Solid Waste Convenience Center (located at  7427 Verdi Lane) from 8 am – 12 noon.
Events in Henrico County
As part of Earth Day, Henrico County Solid Waste Division is hosting a special electronics recycling event on Saturday, April 24, 2021 from 10 am- 2 pm , Virginia Center Commons Complex,10101 Brook Road, Glen Allen, VA
Henrico Energy Management, Henrico Recreation and Parks, Keep Henrico Beautiful and Henrico County Public Libraries are hosting Henrico Earth Day and Energy Fair on Saturday, April 24 at Deep Run Park, Armour House at Meadowview Park, and Virginia Randolph Academy from 10 am- 1 pm.

Events in Powhatan County 
Powhatan County Anti-Litter Council will be hosting its annual Amnesty Day Tire Event on Saturday, April 24, 2021 from 8 am to 12 noon at Powhatan Fairgrounds Building ( 4042 Anderson Highway). Powhatan County residents can bring old , discarded tires to this event. There is a limit to the number of tires. Download flier here.
Event in Prince George County
Prince George County Clean Community Day is scheduled for Saturday, April  17, 2021 from 8:00 am -1 pm.   The event is sponsored by Prince George County and Prince George Extension Office.  Download event flier.
Event in City of Richmond
The  City of Richmond Department of Public Works , Richmond  Clean City Commission and City of Richmond Department of Public Utilities will be hosting a special recycling collection event on Saturday, May 8 at Broad Rock Park , 4802 Warwick Road, Richmond VA ( parking lot area ) from 10 am- 2 pm.
The event will include: electronics recycling, document shredding and hazardous household waste (HHW) pesticides, herbicides and oil based paint in original containers.
