Single Day Event Recycling

Every year, there are numerous fairs and festivals coordinated by area organizations, businesses and schools.  In order to capture the recyclable beverage cans and bottles generated at these events, CVWMA has partnered with our residential recycling contractor, Tidewater Fibre Corporation (TFC), to offer event recycling for single day, small to moderate sized events in our member jurisdications on a first come, first serve basis.

If you have large events, multiple day events or many events over the course of a season or throughout the year, you will need to contact a contractor to discuss your recycling options.  We also do not provide recycling for private events such as weddings (look for venues that already have a recycling plan in place).

Program Changes Effective July 1, 2011:
  • Transportation will no longer be provided by our contactor for any small events We will only be able to accommodate one small event per weekend where the event coordinator is responsible for picking up and returning the containers to CVWMA and taking the recyclables to a drop-off location.
  • We will only provide event recycling for one event per organization per year and can only accommodate 1 or 2 medium sized events per weekend.
  • To help better place a value on your recycling efforts, we will begin tracking the amount and type of recyclables collected at each event and deposit checks will not be returned until this information has been reported.

Special collapsible recycling containers (pictured at right) will be loaned to interested groups to collect cans and bottles from single-day events.  Use of the containers and collection and recycling of the collected materials are provided at no charge, but a $100 refundable deposit check is required to defray the costs of replacing containers that are damaged or not returned.

A limited number of containers are available for loan and reservations will be made on a first-come, first-served basis.  Requests MUST be received at least fourteen days prior to the event, and four weeks advance request is recommended.  The request form and deposit must accompany requests.  Click here for the Request Form.

The following weekends are already booked:
