How to Recycle- Cart, bin or alternate containers

  • CVWMA 96 gallon recycling cart
  • CVWMA 24 gallon green bin
  • Alternate Container-of your choice
  • Accepted/Not Accepted Items
  • Call Recycling Hotline at 340-0900 to report a missed collection

Did you know that YOU can use practically any container to hold your recycables? You do not have to use the CVWMA 24 gallon green bin or 96 gallon cart. Of course, if you need one let us know. But don't let that stop you from setting out your recyables immediately in any rigid container such as plastic tote, small trash can, etc. Even your cardboard moving boxes will do! No plastic bags, please. Anything that is convenient for you to use. It's that easy!

NO NEED TO SORT!

You can place all accepted recyclables in the same bin.

On Collection Day

  • Place your bin at the front curb, rain or shine, before 7:00 a.m. on your collection day.

  • If your trash is collected on the same day, please separate your trash container and recycling container by at least 5 feet so that neither collection crew mistakes one for the other.

  • Flatten, fold or cut cardboard boxes to size 2' x 3' or smaller and place them beside your bin.

  • Be careful not to cause litter! Please place light items like plastic bottles and loose paper in the bottom of the bin under heavier items like magazines and glass bottles so that nothing blows out of your bin.

  • Please do not cover your bin when it rains.

Ask us for these free stickers for your extra containers

Is your bin overflowing? You can use paper grocery bags or any rigid container. We recommend sturdy plastic totes and small trash cans like those pictured to the right.  They can be anything convenient to you, but we ask that  containers LARGER THAN 40 gallons must have a steel bar for easy tipping, please. They don't even have to be green!   Please remove any lids to these containers before placing them at the curb.

Make sure everyone knows it's a recycling container!  Your family, friends and CVWMA collection drivers will appreciate knowing you use this container for recycling.  Clearly mark your extra containers with these free stickers from CVWMA.  Complete the online form  or call the Recycling Hotline at 340-0900 to request your free stickers.

Please do not place extra recyclables in plastic bags. Return plastic bags to most grocery stores (or better yet, ask for paper!)  Plastic bags are not recyclable in our program and cause equipment failure at the processing facility.

  • As of 2/22/2011 CVWMA no longer is able to offer the option of purchasing a wheel kit for your curbside bin.
