City of Hopewell Making Changes to Recycling Programs

TFC Recycling is new Collection Service Provider starting July 1st

The City of Hopewell is making changes to its Curbside Recycling and Drop-Off Recycling Programs starting July 1, 2019.   Tidewater Fiber Corporation (TFC) located in Chester, Virginia has been selected as the new curbside recycling and drop-off recycling collection service provider.

 

Curbside recycling collection will occur EVERY OTHER WEEK on either RED or BLUE Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays beginning July 2nd. Any residents who had a collection day change received a new schedule with collection day information circled in the mail.

 

City recyclers will continue to use their green carts with a yellow lid for recycling. Place accepted items only in this container.

 

Recycle right. The following items are accepted for curbside and drop-off recycling:

ACCEPTED ITEMS: Cardboard, mixed paper, aluminum and steel cans, plastic bottles, tubs and containers (Empty, rinse and replace plastic cap to recycle), food and beverage cartons (empty, rinse, replace plastic cap to recycle) and glass bottles and jars (no metal lids, please).

Avoid the Oops!  Leave these items out of recycling containers. NOT ACCEPTED: Plastic bags, plastic bagged recyclables, any Styrofoam (carryout or packing materials), food contaminated such as pizza boxes, no sheets or balls of aluminum foil, no shredded paper, no tanglers, hoses, cords, big items such as wood, plastic, furniture or metal.

Recycle plastic bags at local grocery/retail stores.

The City will continue its Drop-off Recycling Program at these locations:

Colonial Corner Shopping Center, 4100 Oaklawn Blvd

Hopewell Recreation Center, 100 W. City Point Rd

Fire Station #2, 3400 Virginia Street, near Wilmington Ave
