Educational Resources

Recycling is an easy way to help the Earth.
earthdayheader The 50th annual observance of “Earth Day”, a celebration to raise awareness of the Earth and its resources, is April 22, 2020.  Read the history of Earth Day.

With the COVID-19 global pandemic and “social distancing”, Earth Day will be celebrated “virtually” this year. Here are some educational resources to use where you live.

    Lesson Plans for Earth Day

Since many of us are staying safe at home this year, we’re inviting everyone to celebrate Earth Day by drawing pictures, making signs, or using whatever recycled materials you have around the house to decorate the windows of your home to celebrate Earth Day with your community.

Print out one of the coloring pages below to hang in your window, then share pictures of your completed artwork with us on social media using the hashtags #EarthDay2020, #EarthDayAtHome

Visit our Earth Day board on Pinterest ! Follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram too.

With COVID-19 and social distancing, local Earth Day celebrations and special collection events have been canceled.

CVWMA’s Earth Day Education Focus: What one change can you make to help our planet?

Americans generate about 4.5 pounds of garbage a day! Most of it get thrown into landfills. What is one change you can make to help the planet?

    • Reduce your environmental impact.
    • Rethink waste.
    • Reduce the amount of waste you generate. Reduce what you buy.
    • Reuse as much as possible.
    • Recycle items that can be recycled.
    • Rethink what goes where.
    • Finally, close the loop by buying products with recycled content.
