    Christmas Tree Disposal Info – 2016/2017


    There are approximately 30 million Real Christmas Trees sold in the U.S. every year. Real trees are a renewable, recyclable resource. CVWMA encourages residents throughout the Central Virginia region to recycle their personal trees. The Christmas Tree Recycling Program offered by our member localities to their residents is yet another way to recycle and go green for the holidays. The recycled trees will be ground into a mulch product.

    Christmas Tree Recycling Available in Central Virginia. (Change to the PR 1/4/17 as City of Richmond has rescheduled their Bring One for the Chipper event from Sat, Jan 7  to Sat, Jan 14. Please contact Clean City Commission directly if you have questions.)

    • Please be sure to remove all decorations, tinsel, bulbs, wire and bolts from the tree.  Unless indicated, sites will grind trees into mulch.  Use of each site/option is restricted to residents of the sponsoring city or county only.

    Place undecorated live tree by trash cart. Tree will be not be recycled.

    Leave tree by garbage cart for collection by garbage crews (tree will not be recycled).

    December 26 – Jan. 14, 2017

    Tri City Landfill & Disposal Facility (no charge for tree recycling)

    In addition, residents of Petersburg can place undecorated live Christmas trees at the curb with their trash cart to be collected on their regular collection day. Remember, only 10 cubic yards of bulky waste, to include the tree, may be placed at the curb for collection. Trees will not be recycled.


    Jan. 2 – 31, 2017

    Yard Works, 1990 Anderson Hwy, 7:30 am – 5 pm (Mon-Fri)

    All decorations and lights must be removed from the tree. Only undecorated REAL trees accepted. Yard Works & the tree recycling program offered to Powhatan County residents in partnership with Powhatan Anti-Litter Council    Download information flyer here.

    Remove all decorations from the trees and please keep trees separate from other household waste. No artifical trees accepted free of charge.

    Container First Services is offering Christmas Tree Recycling  for Prince George residents.
