Public Input Solicited for Regional Solid Waste Management Plan Amendment

      The Central Virignia Waste Management Authority (CVWMA) requests input from interested parties as to the development of an amendment to the regional Solid Waste Management Plan (SWMP). The public will have the opportunity to comment on the proposed amendment to the Plan 9:00 am, March 18, 2011 at the Central Virginia Waste Management Authority (CVWMA) Board of Directors meeting. The meeting will be held at 2104 West Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, VA. The proposed SWMP amendment will define expansion plans for the 623 Landfill owned by Republic Services and located at 1961 Ashland Road, Rockville, Virginia in the County of Goochland.

       All interested parties are encouraged to review the 2004-2024 Central Virginia Solid Waste Management Plan. Copies are available at the CVWMA office, 2104 West Laburnum Avenue, Suite 105, Richmond, VA; at the Richmond Regional Planning District Commission office, 9211 Forest Hill Avenue, Suite 200, Richmond, VA 23235; and at the Crater Planning District Commission Office, 1964 Wakefield Avenue, Petersburg, VA.

        Citizens may also submit written comments prior to the public meeting but no later than Thursday, March 17, 2011 to Mr. Bernard Harris, CVWMA, 2100 W. Laburnum Avenue, Suite 105, Richmond, VA 23227; or by email to bharris@cvwma.com . These comments will become part of the permanent record and will be considered in the development of the amendment.
